Why seek Chinese Medicine

The path to maintaining health and wellbeing is rarely a straight forward journey. There are numerous factors which can contribute to both good and poor health, which can make this task feel daunting and overwhelming. Certainly living in modern times doesn’t make this simpler, as many of us experience an increase in our mental and emotional burdens and the difficulty of trying to balance our work, personal and family life. Fortunately, this is where Chinese Medicine enters the picture.

The foundations which underpins Chinese Medicine is the idea of “Yang Shen”, loosely translating as ‘nourishing life’. From its conception approximately 2000 years ago through to moderns times, Chinese medicine has maintained a strong focus on health preservation and addressing illness through a holistic lens. That is, the primary goal is to address the root cause of one’s health concern and thus prevent it from recurring.

By working with a qualified and experienced practitioner of Chinese medicine, you can receive acupuncture and Chinese herbal formulas to correct the internal organ and yin yang imbalances. These are seen as vital factors in re-establishing and maintaining one’s health. You will also be given the necessary tools through dietary and lifestyle considerations to further assist this process with the goal of prevention and sustaining health, wellbeing and happiness.

What to expect during your first consult

During your initial consultation and treatment, Fraser will thoroughly explore your medical history and current symptoms of concern. Although you may come in to specifically address one or two issues (or more), Fraser will enquire into things such as your energy levels, sleeping habits, mental/emotional symptoms, any digestive concerns, symptoms of hormone imbalance, specific questions relating to men’s and women’s health and much more!

After Fraser has completed a thorough intake of your symptoms, he will then palpate your pulse, abdomen and sometimes inspect the tongue. These are specific diagnostic methods which are used in Chinese medicine to refine the Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment.

Some patients may only seek or require acupuncture or may require a combination of both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. This is dependent on the current area of focus and treatment goals of the patient. Fraser will then explain to you the acupuncture and/or herbal formula treatment and treatment course, which can depend on multiple factors. He will also often give you certain Chinese medicine dietary and lifestyle considerations which you can begin to implement to assist in your treatment journey.

If receiving acupuncture, you can expect a session to be from 30-45mins and Fraser will periodically check in to ensure the you are comfortable and relaxed. At the conclusion of your treatment, Fraser will book you in for a follow-up session and provide any relevant advice regarding post-acupuncture self care and instructions if you are also taking a Chinese herbal formula.

Meet Fraser

Fraser is a fully qualified practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA). He is also a member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA).

Fraser’s passion for Chinese medicine began as a result of his own ongoing health concerns that manifested in his early adult life. He often felt discouraged and frustrated that his ailments were not being adequately addressed by conventional means and wanted to understand the root cause of his health concerns. It was this drive to understand the underlying cause which first attracted him to Chinese medicine and its rich history and philosophy. A desire to self-heal quickly evolved into a passion to assist others in obtaining health and wellbeing.

He now works with a diverse demographic of people with varying levels of ailments and continually feels motivated to inspire his patients to take charge, feel empowered and understand the important role they have in their own journey to health and wellbeing. Fraser has seen the most results achieved in individuals who are motivated to make sustained efforts in dietary and lifestyle considerations alongside their regular acupuncture and herbal treatments.

Fraser frequently assists female patients in addressing hormonal/gynaecological conditions and chronic digestive complaints. He also has special interest in treating musculoskeletal conditions, symptoms of  autoimmunity, digestive and skin disorders, sleep, anxiety, depression and men’s health. Often working collaboratively with other practitioners, you can expect a consultation and treatment with Fraser to feel welcoming, safe and professional, with a strong focus on your individual needs and requirements.
